Hermès Les Danses des Indiens Cashmere Silk Shawl 140 – Kermit Oliver – Vintage

An exceptional and highly collectible vintage Hermès “Les Danses des Indiens” Carré 140 shawl, designed by celebrated American artist Kermit Oliver.

This spectacular large-format Hermès shawl presents an extraordinarily detailed composition inspired by Native American ceremonial dress, dance, horses and traditional imagery. The dramatic black ground is framed by rich burnt orange and complemented by vivid red, yellow, blue and multicoloured details.

The generous 140 × 140 cm format is crafted from Hermès’ luxurious blend of 65% cashmere and 35% silk, giving the shawl the characteristic softness, warmth and beautiful drape associated with the Maison’s cashmere and silk creations.

Kermit Oliver is one of the most distinctive artists to have collaborated with Hermès, and his elaborate narrative designs have become particularly sought after by collectors.

The shawl retains its Hermès-Paris signature and original composition label.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition with visible signs of previous wear and age.

The shawl shows areas of wear, marks and discolouration, particularly noticeable in portions of the black border and darker areas. There is also some age-related wear to the edges and fabric.

These imperfections have been taken into consideration when pricing the shawl and have intentionally not been concealed in the photographs.

This is a vintage item and signs of previous ownership are to be expected.
